ROONEY..PUT MANCHESTER UNITED OVER THE TOP IN ENGLAND PREMIERE

Top of the pile: Rooney (centre) scored twice as United beat West Brom

The most exciting Premier League title race in years tipped the way of Manchester United on Sunday.
A 2-0 home win over West Brom saw Sir Alex Ferguson’s men edge a point ahead of neighbours City. At Old Trafford, two goals from Wayne Rooney gave United a seventh victory in their past eight Barclays Premier League games and the England striker said: ‘We deserve to be top.’

City’s surprise 1-0 defeat at Swansea to a late Luke Moore goal means United are top after the weekend fixtures for the first time since October.
City manager Roberto Mancini blasted his team for conceding a ‘stupid goal’ and their defeat came against the background of a tunnel bust-up between Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure, while Gareth Barry appeared to aim a volley of dissent at City’s management after being substituted in the first half.
United can stretch their lead by winning at Wolves on Sunday and City do not play again until the home game with Chelsea a week on Wednesday. Ferguson said of their defeat: ‘That’s a bonus, I didn’t expect that.

TIGER WOODS WITHDRAW FROM A TOURNAMENT-LEG INJURY AGAIN

He left the course after unleashing a 3Well, this is unfortunate. Tiger Woods, who seemed to be well on the way to recovering much of his tournament-winning form, abruptly withdrew from the WGC-Cadillac Championship Sunday afternoon after 11 holes.21-yard drive at the 12th. He was then transported straight from the course to his courtesy car, a scene viewers watched via blimp. Woods offered a brief comment on the injury: "left leg," which could encompass an entire range of problems. Most ominously, Woods has had surgery after surgery on his left knee.
Woods had played well enough this weekend, carding rounds of 72, 67 and 68. He was, however, three over through 11 on the day.
Later, Woods released a statement: "I felt tightness in my left Achilles warming up this morning, and it continued to get progressively worse. After hitting my tee shot at 12, I decided it was necessary to withdraw. In the past, I may have tried to continue to play, but this time, I decided to do what I thought was necessary."

P.DIDDY GOT SUED OVER "EMPRESS PERFUME"

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been hit with a lawsuit by Empress Haircare Products, over the usage of the name Empress, a perfume created by the Sean John Clothing Company.
Empress Haircare Products filed a lawsuit on January 10 in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York.
According to the lawsuit, representatives for Sean John attempted to file a trademark for the name Empress, even though they knew that a existing trademark had been granted to Empress Haircare Products.
Around February 2010, an attorney for Sean John contacted Empress Haircare Products, in an attempt to obtain the rights to use the trademark, in return for compensation.
Empress Haircare Products declined to enter an agreement with Sean John, and would not grant the rights to use the Empress mark.
Sean John then filed a second application to trademark the name “Empress Sean John,” but the application was also rejected, because consumers could have been confused by the similar names.
Attorneys for Sean John then allegedly contacted Empress Haircare Products, in an attempt to plead their case, claiming there would be no confusion in the marketplace.
Despite the legal issues surrounding the name, the lawsuit claims that the “Empress Sean John Perfume and Lotion” was released and is currently being marketed to the same target consumer as the Empress Haircare line of products. .
